What a magical gig at Ronnie Scott's earlier tonight! John and his band at the very top of their game. Hurrah! And happy birthday to John-long may he perform and record!

Norbert Gawel - Wed, Nov 26th, 2014 11:44 AM PST
Happy birthday Mr. Mayall and thanks for all this years of wonderfull music.
Best regards.

Dear Jonathan (24th November) - Wed, Nov 26th, 2014 11:40 AM PST
Thank you for your (nerdy) question! We've actually had a lot of people asking about that guitar. You're correct, it's a Gibson ES-125, a 3/4 scale guitar. We'll need to check with John on the pickup and get back to you. -

Cyril Cave - Wed, Nov 26th, 2014 11:27 AM PST
Great concert at De Monfort Hall, Leicester, last Friday Night. I first saw you there in 1969 with the "Turning Point" band. I don't think your voice has changed in all that time. Your keyboard, guitar and harmonica skills are as good as ever.
I still think your best album is the solo one,The Blues Alone. I'm nit picking I know. God bless you.

Katherine - Tue, Nov 25th, 2014 12:52 AM PST
Saw the gig at Dartford on Sunday 23/11-blown away-absolutely fantastic! King King fantastic too! what a night!!

John - Mon, Nov 24th, 2014 3:25 PM PST
Fantastic show in Leicester last Friday. Great band, great music, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Deborah Somerville - Mon, Nov 24th, 2014 9:49 AM PST
Totally overawed to see you LIVE at the Swan High Wycombe. I bought vinyl 'Empty Rooms' when divorcing in the 80s and it was a great comfort in a comfortless time. Now at last I've seen you. Long may you reign!

Barry Hayward - Mon, Nov 24th, 2014 5:50 AM PST
Saw the gig at Dartford on Sunday 23/11/14.Mayall was brilliant as were his american musicians,I was also well impressed with the support band king king, a great show and long live king John!

Jonathan Woolrich - Mon, Nov 24th, 2014 5:38 AM PST
ES125T? That should have been waist, not waste.

Jonathan Woolrich - Mon, Nov 24th, 2014 3:11 AM PST
Enjoyed the gig last night. I'm going to ask the nurdy question. What was the guitar John played? It was a semi, somewhat Gibson style but with a smaller waste and top bout like a Zamaitis. Could not see if the pickup was a humbucker or soapbar. Sounded more like the latter.

Rod Clark - Mon, Nov 24th, 2014 1:14 AM PST
My wife and I were fortunate to be at Dartford last night to see the concert and what a concert. A fantastic performance from a very tight band at their best. Thank you for a great evening. The support band King King was also brilliant with Alan Memo´s guitar playing and personality shining through.

Stuart Broderick - Mon, Nov 24th, 2014 12:05 AM PST
Was blown away watching John last night at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford Long may he rock

gary - Sun, Nov 23rd, 2014 12:26 PM PST

Tony Westhead - Sun, Nov 23rd, 2014 11:29 AM PST
Great performance in High Wycombe!! Also delighted to meet you again with sister Caroline and Howard. Your stamina for work is phenomenal , but you will surely deserve a rest at the end of this tour. Wishing you a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.

John Holmes - Sun, Nov 23rd, 2014 8:31 AM PST
Terrific night last Thursday, at the Portsmouth Guildhall. You lit up what is a pretty austere venue, with your great music! Met up with my brother for the gig, just like the old days when we saw you so many times at The Marquee, Klooks Kleek, and the other great 60s venues. Never mind James Brown, you must be the hardest working man in show business!

Susan Harris - Sun, Nov 23rd, 2014 3:57 AM PST
Hi John - went to see you at Birmingham and Portsmouth. The music was just fabulous - blues, but creative and fresh. The band are amazing. Look forward to more concerts?

Ian Mitchell - Sun, Nov 23rd, 2014 12:57 AM PST
John & band, Another great night of blues last night at High Wycombe (Nice to see Greg pronounce it so well :-) ) Thank you for the music & birthday greetings to John for next week. Hope to see y'all over here again soon.

De Montfort hall Leics. A wonderful evening of Blues from support band King King to the Legend himself. Huge thanks to John and Band. Great night.

Terry V - Sat, Nov 22nd, 2014 2:56 AM PST
Fantastic gig in Leicester last night John, thanks to you and your great band for another great show, we loved it! And great to meet you at the end, my girlfriend was thrilled to have her photo taken with you!

One question....why are the t-shirts on this site in Us$, can't we get them here in the uk?

terry Day - Fri, Nov 21st, 2014 2:30 PM PST
An ex girlfriend and I saw John Mayall last night in Portsmouth, a real life time ambition. His band, at least half his age were worthy to support the legend. John was absolutely charming, a real gentleman. They all made it so effortless, playing so well. Supported by KIng King, we both felt it was such a personal and relaxed performance, such quality is very rarely seen. Eat your heart out, X Factor!
We absolutely loved it. Go and enjoy a truly great musician.Ok, we are all older, but we recognise genuine people and quality musicians. Go,see, enjoy wonderful music.

Vicki Grierson - Fri, Nov 21st, 2014 1:55 PM PST
Happy memories of being 15/16 years old and seeing you at the long defunct Club A'Gogo in Newcastle upon Tyne round about 1964/65. Truly inspiring music from a master. Thank you!

Lucy Ehasz - Fri, Nov 21st, 2014 6:31 AM PST

Hi John, great concert in Crawley tonight, I loved seeing you at the marquee, with various line ups, always great musicians , my favourite album, blues from laurel canyon

Nil Rubió - Wed, Nov 19th, 2014 4:01 PM PST
I've seen you John and the band twice this year, first in Girona and last night in Barcelona, on both shows sounding truly great. The first one was surprising (silly me) to find how you keep the sound as good as it is, and yesterday was truly reassuring. I feel gratitude towards all of you, and glad to have finally seen you live! I'm 27 years old and many years ago I enjoyed discovering you through the LPs of my dad and uncle, collection I'll sure treasure and pass to the next generation as they've done with me.

I'll be there any time you come back to play! Take care!

Jordi Ayats - Wed, Nov 19th, 2014 1:17 PM PST
Hi John,I saw you last night in Barcelona (L'auditori). Great concert, great band and great music, the sound was really good. You don't like an 81 year old. Keep rocking. I hope to see you again in Barcelona. Thanks for another great night.

Really great show last night in Barcelona, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I brought my 16 yr old son(he's learning the guitar) and he was really impressed (I think he was expecting the group to be on zimmer frames)! Thanks for a great night, and keep it up!

katrina wood - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 4:03 PM PST
I appreciate your comments, i feel the same. I think the site is very good and its the last thing I want to do..cause trouble..I am a longtime fan of John and just want to share my interests.

Apologies all round!

Dear Katrina (Nov 18th) - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 3:14 PM PST
Thank you for your posts and your interest in John Mayall and meeting other fans. We're sorry to say that we can't allow people to post email or web addresses on this page because of possible complications that could arise. We hope you are able to connect with other fans in a different way -

Katrina - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 12:48 PM PST
my young nephews advised me not to go on facebook as there are many undisirable people out to cause trouble. I'm not that expert on how to join. I just want someone to share my interests with, that's all...just penfriends. i email and text a few people I share my interest in tennis with, but they are people I met but don't live near me now. I share tapes with a longtime schoolfriend.

A long-time fan - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 9:02 AM PST
Katrina - For what it's worth, my advice is to put yourself on Facebook - You can announce it on this site and you won't be giving your email address away.

Jim Paton - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 6:21 AM PST
Thoroughly enjoyed last night's concert in Glasgow. Great selection of songs which brought back memories. The band seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Nice touch bringing local boy, Alan Nimmo on stage to take part in the encore. Thanks again to John and the band.

Katrina Wood - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 5:59 AM PST
Hi Thanks for suggesting facebook. i'm not on it. I prefer email really (i'm an oldke) Not sure about putting my email out on this space..What do you think?

Thanks to you and your band for a great gig last night in Glasgow. A big thank you for signing my vinyl version of the new album. A special mention to should be to King, King who started the night off with a bang, great set played like they enjoyed themselves , just like you and the boys. Sorry to hear about you feeling unwell in Aberdeen.

Jim Stewart - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 2:27 AM PST
Superb set from John Mayall and his wonderful band in Glasgow. A true professional. You seemed to be enjoying yourself on stage as much as ever and this translated to the audience. Keep well and live long!

PETER MOONEY - Tue, Nov 18th, 2014 1:12 AM PST

Thanks so much. A great evening with you and King King.
Hugs to all involved xx

Brenda - Wed, Nov 12th, 2014 7:14 AM PST
Saw john mayall and band at the sage last night. It was excellent and to think he nearly 81 years old. His ability to sing and play the harmonica with such energy and not even be out of breath. Not many octarians could do that.

Nita - Wed, Nov 12th, 2014 1:56 AM PST
I wanted to gush at you all last night...but I managed to contain myself... You all made everyone in Hall 1, Sage Gateshead..Joyous....that is a job well done...I looked around and everyone was beaming...and to see all 4 of you chatting to us all at the end of the set was gold dust. You all made life good last night and I skipped along the quayside on the way home.

Anne - Wed, Nov 12th, 2014 1:15 AM PST
mot sure if you can help. We are going to see John at Southport tonight. My partner David Kimpton, a life long fan has just had a triple by pass and heart valve replacement. He is very exhausted ut is determined to get there tonight. Is there any way I could get Mr Mayall to send him a get well wish. It would mean the world to him. Thanks

sandra goldsmith - Tue, Nov 11th, 2014 5:14 PM PST
Tues Nov 11th....Sage Gateshead..with hubby David to see the amazing John Mayall and his incredible band (great support band King King) many legends would be out front signing their own cd's and happy to meet you

Wayne Johnson - Tue, Nov 11th, 2014 3:44 PM PST
Just been to see John Mayall at the Sage Gateshead. He was simply incredible --played for about 2 hours and it was a class performance. He pretty much got a standing ovation, and deserved it. All the supporting musicians were good too. Best concert in years!!

lee dickson - Tue, Nov 11th, 2014 2:22 AM PST
Looking forward to seeing you and your band tonight at the Sage in Gateshead. The Bluesbreakers LPs were a massive influence on me growing up and I've been listening to you since I was a teenager. Can't wait for the gig, no idea what material to expect but I'm sure it's gonna blow me away.

Kevin Baker - Tue, Nov 11th, 2014 2:03 AM PST
Can only say "WOW" what a great performance in Frome this week. Your backing band is amazing and I was privileged to meet you before the gig. How many other artists would stand and meet and talk to their fans for an hour before the show (and after).....very very few. John you are a true "legend" and a bloody nice bloke as well....respect!!

Derek Carman - Mon, Nov 10th, 2014 8:33 AM PST
Many thanks John for a wonderful evening of blues last night, (Sunday,09/11/14)
Did you perform a few decades ago at Kings Lynn Tech. College? My cousin, who was a chemistry teacher there used to be involved with booking bands and he claims that you and your then band were one of bands he booked.
Hope to see you when you next return to Cambridge, and as Bob Dylan might say, "May you stay forever young". Best wishes from Derek Carman.

Chris - Mon, Nov 10th, 2014 4:07 AM PST
Cambridge was amazing last night. Why did I wait 45 years to see him again. Best show ever. Brilliant

Just got home from your concert at the Pavillion Bournemouth. You're as exiting to watch as when I first saw you in 1967 at the Cooks Ferry Inn in Edmontom.

Chris Bradshaw - Fri, Nov 7th, 2014 1:42 PM PST
Recently saw John+band at Llandudno,North Wales+got to meet+chat afterwards. As a long time blues musician i wish to give special thanks to John for the years of dedication+inspiration to us all.Bless you John.

Neil Sumner - Fri, Nov 7th, 2014 12:01 PM PST
Also went to Southend on 6th Dec and I have to also say Blues for Lost Days was the highlight. Loved Floodin' in Califormia too and what a treat to get All Your Loving at the end. On that harmonica the years just peel off John. Having been bought my first John Mayall record in 1972 by my dad (who is just a few months older), his music has been with me nearly all my life. As always John finds the best musicians for his band. And the legend signed my poster!, I came away beaming like a child at Xmas. Great support band too.

Lee Devall - Fri, Nov 7th, 2014 11:31 AM PST
Saw the Southend show on the 6th November, fantastic show, highlight for me was the rendition of Blues for lost days, a privilege to see the band for the second time at Southend and a real buzz to shake Johns hand before the gig, as I told him, truly a legend.

stu lawler - Fri, Nov 7th, 2014 9:45 AM PST
It is so nice to see and hear all the nice comments and kudos coming Johns' way still. Hard to comprehend he is still sounding so great what with being an octogenarian and all that. Simply incredible. Hope he gets that Grammy too !!!!

Jill Carr - Fri, Nov 7th, 2014 8:51 AM PST
I attended concert at Birmingham Symphony Hall on 5th November, and really enjoyed seeing the perennially fantastic John Mayall and his tight-knit band. At almost 81 years of age, he is still our foremost bluesman, and his harmonica playing is still as mean as it was when I first listened to him in 1968. Keep on rockin' John!

VALERIO BUSNENGO - Fri, Nov 7th, 2014 3:04 AM PST

Tapani Talo - Thu, Nov 6th, 2014 3:21 PM PST
Sept 15th NY City Winery - Most fabulous show with such energy and fun. Truly great current band and program.

Barrie Audis - Thu, Nov 6th, 2014 9:05 AM PST
Saw your concert last night in Birmingham, superb. I have listened to A Special Life all day today in the office. I never ever thought i would hear you play Broken wings off the Blues Alone album live. One of my all time favorite tracks, makes the hair stand up on the back my neck thank you so much.King King a wonderful choice for the support.

Ken Lane - Thu, Nov 6th, 2014 5:08 AM PST
Thought the concert at Symphony Hall was brilliant. John Mayall still got what it takes and well supported by King King

Alan Kelly - Thu, Nov 6th, 2014 3:03 AM PST
Saw the show in Sheffield i hope i am like that when i am 80.great show, great band.It was an honour to meet a living legend. thank you John.

Ian & Lucy - Wed, Nov 5th, 2014 3:24 PM PST
Sheffield gig 4th November. Such a surprise to see JM manning the desk at the entrance. I was his first customer for the signed CD and what a pleasure to speak with him. First class show as was King King. We ate nearby before the show and Greg Rzab came in to eat but just was sure it was him - should have said hi but....

katrina Wood - Wed, Nov 5th, 2014 1:54 PM PST
i went to the concert lasts night - It was unbelieveable! saw John first in 1967. Alex Oliver - Tue, Nov 4th, 2014 3:19 PM PST
A John Mayall fan showed me things on guitar in 69 that changed my musical life profoundly. I don't know how many years ago that was but I do realise it was about time I came to the source, the well font that has sprung many rivers. You can hardly mention a band worth any remark without it somehow relates to John Mayall. To be celebrated is a graem. To be celebrated by celebrity must be nirvana. Thank you for everything and happy birthday

David White - Mon, Nov 3rd, 2014 11:44 AM PST
Hello John,
I first saw you back in the sixties, when Eric Clapton started playing with you. I was hooked and have followed you and your various line-ups ever since. I saw you recently at the Basingstoke Anvil, and it was the best live set,I have seen for a very long time. Long may you continue to spread the blues

A long-time fan - Mon, Nov 3rd, 2014 10:36 AM PST
John - I don't know if you would have heard this already but Jack Massarik died this week. I might be wrong but I have a feeling he played with you in the early days. Thanks again for the Cadogan Hall show - see you at Ronnie Scott's.

Ron Vaughan - Mon, Nov 3rd, 2014 9:02 AM PST
Another man track 4 on Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton . Traditional arranged by John.

wilmau - Mon, Nov 3rd, 2014 8:21 AM PST
Hi Can anyone tell me the name of the song John sang on the Andrew Marr show Sunday 2nd November. Great performance.

Simon Webb - Mon, Nov 3rd, 2014 2:10 AM PST
A great night in Norwich last night. A perfect selection of great numbers played superbly. Plus high energy warmup from the King Kings - doesn't come much better!!

Nigel Seaman - Sun, Nov 2nd, 2014 11:51 AM PST
As a first timer to the world of seeing John Mayall play live I would just like to say that Cadogan last night was truly excellent. King King were a perfect start while John and the band played out of their skins. The meet & greet and ticket signing just capped off a wonderful night. Big thanks to you all

BB - Sun, Nov 2nd, 2014 3:44 AM PST
John, you (and the band) still got 'it' as have King King - never seen a lead guitar enjoy making music so much - thanks for the Cadogan, this goes into my replay from the 60's book. Rock n' Roll lives on.

If you weren't there, then you missed the gig of your life. John gets down and bluesy with an amazing group of guys to back him. Thanks once again John, you're still 'the man'.

Saw John and the lads at the York Barbican last night - absolutely amazing show and terrific musicianship all across the board from John, his band, and the supporting act, King King. Being 21, it was a great chance to see one of the originals, and undoubtedly worth it!

Johh T. Riddell - Thu, Oct 30th, 2014 5:14 AM PDT

Saw the band last night in York, great show, terrific playing skills from all. Great support act in King King who really got the night off to a good start. Took my 17 year old grandson as part of his 'Blues Education' and he was enthused. Thanks for a great night.

Thank you for your post and your question. The guitar John was playing is a 1958 Gibson ES-125 which is a 3/4 scale guitar. -
